Fisher Body Craftsman’s Guild | Design Contest
From 1930 to 1968 the Fisher Body Craftsman’s Guild invited teenage boys between 12 and 20 (through magazine ads) to take part in a model-making contest. Fisher Body, the organizer of the guild, was the world’s largest manufacturer of automobile bodies, which it supplied principally to General Motors. Over 8 million American teenage boys - over the period that the program existed - participated in the Fisher Body Craftman’s Guild with college scholarship money and trophies for the top modelers. Many former guildsmen went on to become GM styling designers. - Via: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4
